Bonny Peters lives on Cat Den Mountain in southwestern New Hampshire. She lives with her husband and their menagerie of wild animals. The location of their home in the woods provides them with black bears, white-tailed deer, bobcat, red and gray foxes, porcupines, red, gray and flying squirrels and a myriad of birds to enjoy.
Bonny started her career as a quilt designer shortly after taking up quilting in 2012. Her love of fabric had her buying 1 yard cuts of multiple fabrics from collections. Her search for patterns to use those fabrics was disappointing. Most of the patterns she found were composed of simple squares and rectangles and her aesthetic sense wanted more.
With the acquisition of Electric Quilt 7 (EQ7) in December of that year, Bonny began designing quilts. The first few did not use 1 yard cuts but over time, her skill with EQ7 improved. Now she is working on creating a series of quilts utilizing five 1-yard cuts.
Whether utilizing five 1-yard cuts or not, all of her patterns use innovative piecing techniques for improved accuracy and efficiency. Now she has upgraded to EQ8 and the journey continues.
In 2017 she became a Certified Instructor for Studio 180 Designs. Her love of Deb Tucker's tools led her to take this step. Each tool is created to allow for the piecing of multiple sizes. Using just a little of extra fabric and trimming the units down to the precise size has improved the quality of her piecing. Although none of her patterns to date utilize these awesome tools there are designs in the process so stay tuned for this next part of the adventure.
